We’ve been filling our home with more and more plants lately for the beautiful aesthetic they help create plus the various physical and mental health benefits indoor plants can offer. The one room that lacked plants throughout our home was the bathroom. Living room, kitchen, bedrooms — blooming in greenery. Our bathrooms on the other hand — nothing.

I hadn’t thought about adding greenery to the bathrooms for one simple reason: not one bathroom has a window. I recently stumbled upon a video that talked about the Feng Shui benefits of plants in the bathroom, even those that have zero windows. I was immediately intrigued. And immediately ran to the store, of course.
Before we dive into the benefits of plants in the bathroom, let’s take a look at just a few amazing benefits of indoor plants in your home in general:
- You’ll be happier
- Make you smarter
- Help you recover from illness faster
- You’ll feel better mentally
- Help you feel more accomplished (i.e. with work)
- Improve your allergies
- Help you breathe better

Benefits of Plant-Filled Bathrooms
Although plants are an aesthetically pleasing addition to your home, there are so many health benefits that should make you want to incorporate them into each room — and mainly your bathroom which we are delving into today.
Plants Purify The Air
Purifying the air is a major benefit and necessity of having plants in the bathroom. Purified air means clean air that doesn’t smell bad. Bathrooms get stinky, plants can help filter out those bad smells. This is especially helpful if you have a bathroom with little airflow. One of the best plants to do so is the Snake Plant.
Plants Absorb Extra Moisture
Too much moisture in the bathroom can lead to mold. Adding a plant that absorbs the extra moisture and humidity (and benefits from it — check out an English Ivy) creates a win-win situation for you and your plant. Excellent placement for this plant would be the shower, but elsewhere in your bathroom will certainly do the trick! One of the best plants to absorb moisture is an English Ivy.
Plants Help Reduce Stress
A shower or bath is a perfect way to decompress from a long day. Adding plants into your bathroom will only maximize the stress-relieving benefits. Eucalyptus is a great stress reliever, which is why so many include this plant in their shower. One whiff of its aroma and your stress and anxiety levels can be reduced.
Plants Optimize Feng Shui
The energy levels of your bathroom are often the lowest of any room. This is due to the many drains and the water draining down every day taking the energy with it. Plants can help balance and restore this lost energy. One of the best to do so is the Heartleaf Philodendron.
