How To Create A Year of First’s Wine Gift
For a DIY Breakfast At Tiffanyâs bridal shower, I created a Year of First wine gift for the bride. This has become a super popular bridal shower gift. For the bride, this is the gift that keeps on giving for a year (or more!). What is a Year of First’s wine gift? This gift includes eight or more wine bottles for the bride to open throughout her first year of marriage. Each bottle of wine is labeled with a different holiday or milestone that the bride will encounter in her first year of marriage.Â
Step 1: decide on the “FIRSTS”
Some ideas to consider are:
- First Anniversary
- First Christmas
- First Thanksgiving
- First Halloween
- First New Years
- First Valentines
- First Fight
- Wedding Night
- First Baby
- First Home
- First New Job
- Just Because
Add or takeaway “firsts” to make it tailored to your bride-to-be. A Year Of Firstâs is a memorable gift to give the bride-to-be. Itâs fun to reach all those milestones throughout your first year of marriage and have a bottle of wine each time to celebrate. I recommend putting all the bottles in a basket or storage bin that the bride has on her registry!
Step 2: Find wine bottles
Try to find wine bottles that go with the theme of the “First”. For instance, for “First Baby” Barefoot Wine fits the theme because the barefoot icon could resemble a baby’s foot. For “First Christmas” I found a bright red bottle that perfectly resembled Santa’s clothes. Get creative and fun with your gift!Â
Step 3: Write and attach the wine tags
You can get as creative as you want with the wine tags. Write a poem, a story, a memory, or write the “First” title and draw a corresponding doodle. Once you have all the wine tags written out, punch two holes in the top of each, pull through a piece of ribbon or tulle, and tie around the neck of each bottle. Like all of my Breakfast At Tiffany’s decor, I recommend  writing everything out in pencil first. For this project, I followed this step with a thin point Sharpie.Â
Have fun and good luck!! Comment or email with any questions!
