It may be summer but my mind is already on Halloween. Fall is my favorite season and Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. It’s only natural to be thinking about it all the time. Especially because this year I have two trick-or-treaters to dress — my toddler and his baby brother who is now walking! With both on the move this year, my mind has already been circulating matching costume ideas.

Today I am sharing some of my all-time favorite Halloween costume ideas for your toddler and baby. This list is perfect for two boys, a boy and a girl, or two girls! Mix and match the way you want to. Do you have two girls who adore Batman and Robin? Go for it! Have fun this Halloween and remember there are never any rules when it comes to costumes! With the new Top Gun movie dominating the box office it felt only right to start this list off with a perfect Top Gun kids’ Halloween costume idea. The stroller transformed into a jet is beyond genius to complete the Top Gun look while giving your kids the ability to rest their little legs.
An all-time favorite movie of mine as a child that my toddler has enjoyed watching (maybe I shouldn’t give him any ideas?). Dennis The Menace is an easy and fun costume idea for a brother and sister, who can easily be Margaret.
This Back To The Future sibling’s costume idea hits close to my heart because Marty McFly is exactly who my toddler dressed as for last year’s Halloween. It was a perfect last-minute DIY costume when he inevitably refused to wear his actual costume. Adding a sweet little Doc can be just as easy — but you’ll definitely need to invest in the Doc wig!
Raggedy Ann and Andy are a sweet sister and brother duo. If your toddler and baby don’t mind the extravagant red wigs, you’re in luck!
An absolutely perfect idea for your active toddler and sleeping baby — Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent! Your Maleficent toddler can trick-or-treat all evening while your Sleeping Beauty baby happily snoozes away.
Did Napoleon Dynamite come out 18 years ago? Yes. Do my husband and I still quote it often? Also yes. If you are shameless about your undying love for this movie as well then this could be the costume for your little ones. Especially if they prefer to wear “regular” clothes like my toddler. As long as they get candy, right?
If your toddler is bicycle obsessed like mine, this could be a perfect choice for you! We love the ease of another “regular” clothes costume. Super easy yet so impactful — everyone is sure to know who they are! Although we highly suggest getting an E.T. stuffed animal to complete the look.
A classic duo — the fireman and his Dalmatian pup! I always love the ease of a cozy one-piece for your baby. It’s cute and practical for keeping them warm and easily changing diapers. Plus if they aren’t walking yet or need assistance with their newly walking legs, a firetruck is an adorable addition for them to sit in.
A classic 90’s duo — the best friends of Rugrats: Chuckie and Tommy! What 90’s kid didn’t love this inseparable pair? Now that so many of us have kids of our own, we gravitate towards these beyond cute 90s ideas that are an instant boot down memory lane. Plus, this is another easy “regular clothes” option for your little ones. There are plenty of other Rugrats characters to choose from, too!
Is your toddler obsessed with all things tractor-related? Is your baby obsessed with new foods? This is literally the interests of my toddler and baby, thus this would be a beyond-perfect Halloween pairing. As I said before, love the idea of a cozy one-piece for your baby for the warmth factor and the ease of diaper changes.
Scooby-Doo is always a Halloween favorite for more than obvious reasons. We love the idea of having the Mystery Machine with a push car or even a wagon to help carry tired baby legs around. Shaggy, Fred, and even Scooby are all fun choices for your little ones!
Matching costumes are always ideal to avoid any unwanted and big feelings your kids may feel over their sibling’s costume choice. Disney favorites, like The Incredibles, are an easy and popular choice among families.
Another almost matching costume idea: Mario and Luigi! The DIY cars and balloons to make it Mario Kart is an epic addition. Although no baby is pictured, you could easily incorporate a stroller with the balloons. I know that would have my baby distracted for the entire evening.
I think it’s safe to say I love the “regular” clothes option when it comes to Halloween costumes. It’s easy and cost-effective. However, you may want to purchase a Bubba Gump Shrimp Company hat to complete the overall look. Lieutenant Dan has a clever idea for the stroller. Don’t forget Jenny if you’re looking for a stereotypical girl option.
Your toddler may really love the idea of putting your baby in jail. At least that’s my toddler’s favorite thing to do when pretending to be a police officer. All toys must go to jail (aka an upside-down laundry basket).
These kids solemnly swear they are up to no good! Harry Potter and Hedwig the Owl are an unstoppable duo.
Order up! A sweet little barista with a sweet treat for a companion! A relatable costume choice especially if you are toting your little ones around to grab a coffee and sweet treat often (ahem, daily).
A hilarious duo that is sure to be instantly recognized by most! Plus, I’m sure your kiddos are more than happy to recreate the most annoying sound in the world.
A most-loved superhero duo that your boys (or girls) are sure to love! They get to wear masks and capes — honestly, what’s not to like? I love how warm this costume can be if you experience Halloween in a colder climate.
Curious George is a well-loved staple in our home, as it was in my childhood house growing up. The Man in The Yellow hat and George are a sweet as-can-be duo. Plus, if your baby is as banana-obsessed as mine, Curious George is a perfect match for them.
LEGO Marel Super Heros — say no more. This DIY costume requires a little paint, cardboard, and a lot of talent. If you’re a creative parent who is stepping on LEGO’s daily (I feel for you), this could be the toddler and baby costume for you!
There have been plenty of book and movie costume ideas on this list that may go over your little one’s head. However, this Where The Wild Things Are costume idea combines a beloved children’s book (and movie) with a perfect description of your kids: WILD.
Captain Hook and Peter Pan is a fun and well-known duo for your toddler and baby this Halloween. I sure know my toddler would revel in the chance to sward play all evening.
Or, nix Captian Hook from above and send in Tinker Bell to be Peter Pan’s trick-or-treating companion.
