Easy DIY Bridal Shower Picture Idea
Supplies
Hula hoop (plastic or wooden)
Ribbon
Flowers + greenery
Hot glue gun (or glue of your choice)
This summer I got to help plan a bridal shower for one of my closest girlfriends! I LOVE weddings and bridal showers, but what I love the most about the planning process — the decor! When planning a bridal shower, you want to include decor that is special to the bride. Always remember to include pictures of the happy couple throughout their years together thus far! There are so many great bridal shower photo ideas, but I always like to create photo hoops! From my DIY wedding to my best friends Breakfast at Tiffany’s bridal shower, I created photo hoops. They’re super easy to create and so special for the bride-to-be.
Gather Supplies
You will want to purchase a hoop (I prefer a wooden hoop), flowers, greenery, ribbon, and pictures (I always use Targets picture center for immediate prints!). For the pictures, I recommend printing them out in a square shape to give the hoop a clean and uniform finished look.
Why use a wooden hoop as opposed to a plastic hula hoop?
The wooden hoop does not give at all when you are adding the ribbon and photos. As I mentioned, I have made picture displays with plastic hula hoops multiple times in the past and the hula hoop never keeps its shape 100% of the time, causing the ribbon to sag a little in the end. This can be fixed by re-gluing the ribbon, but save yourself the trouble and go with a wooden hoop!
♥ Also, if you decide to use a wooden hoop with the block and bolt (see photo below) you can stand the hoop on the block if hanging the hoop is not an option.
Add Ribbon
Measure out the ribbon against the hoop and cut to size (tip: use fabric scissors for a clean and easy cut). Use your hot glue gun to secure the ribbon in place. I like to tuck the ribbon slightly around the hoop so that the ribbon fully covers the edges of the hoop. I think this gives it a clean look! **Be careful, the ribbon is super hot to the touch if you use a thin ribbon and hot glue. Luckily, hot glue dries really fast!
Add Photos
I like to lay the photos against on the ribbon first to get a visual of the finished product before gluing the photos down. Once you are happy with the placement of photos, you can start gluing! Again, use whatever type of glue you prefer. I always use hot glue because it dries fast and keeps everything really secure!
Add Flowers + Greenery
Pull the flowers from the stems (or use a floral wire cutter) and glue those into place first. I like to add flowers and greenery to the top and bottom of the hoop, but placement is totally up to you. To save money, find flowers that already include greenery — unless of course, you want something specific, like eucalyptus (which is so pretty for weddings!)
That’s it! Super easy, yet really personalized for the bride-to-be. Plus, it’s a great keepsake for her to have. However, if she doesn’t want to keep the hoop intact, the photos will pop off of the ribbon when using enough pull. Yet another reason I love using hot glue! See more of the shower below for ideas!
Good luck and have fun creating!
