Today we are featuring two of our favorite loves: the farmhouse-style and DIY projects! More specifically, DIY farmhouse furniture. Whether or not you live in an actual farmhouse, you can appreciate and incorporate farmhouse style into your home. After all, it’s warm and inviting; perfect for a home-sweet-home vibe.
The farmhouse style is all about creating a cozy and warm home. The farmhouse style heavily focuses on practicality and using what you already have (i.e. repurposed). The design is clean and simple pulling in elements of county, modern, and rustic — depending on your own personal style. Common furniture features are vintage and repurposed, or new furniture with a distressed look. With both furniture and decor, both natural wood and painted wood are commonly paired with iron or steel finishes. The color palette of furniture, decor, and walls typically contains blends of neutrals, whites, and greys.
The overall look and feel of the farmhouse style are down-to-earth and homey. If you find yourself enjoying a home-cooked meal and snuggling up with a cozy blanket, chances are you’re doing the farmhouse aesthetic the right way.

I really enjoy your blog and I am wanting to paint my old, solid wood, kitchen cabinets the color of yours, including the trim. Could you please tell me how you painted them and what colors you used to paint them. Thank you.
