I never thought I would care so much about a laundry room or literally emit joy from having an organized and beautiful laundry room until I was doing laundry 24/7. Why is it that the piles of children’s clothes literally never end? I feel like there is a new pile to be washed every single day.
Today we are sharing some of our favorite laundry room makeovers that feature butcher block countertops. Butcher block countertops are a charming, affordable, and durable choice for any countertop project. Usually seen in kitchens, butcher block countertops are just as versatile in the laundry room. A popular choice amongst DIY enthusiasts because of its low price tag and ease of assembly.

Although most of these laundry rooms are small, the makeovers make them feel bright, open, and spacious. The addition of the butcher block counters adds a warm and welcoming vibe. But what I love the most about these laundry room makeovers is how functional as well as beautiful the spaces became. The addition of the butcher block counters offers additional space for folding, ironing, or really just a way to complete the room’s overall aesthetic. We don’t judge if you’re not folding or ironing.
Modern Floral
Tiffany of A Nod To Navy refers to her completed makeover as a modern floral laundry room, which is easy to see why with the addition of the beautiful smoky rose wallpaper. Because this room is at the center of her house, design choices that would help maximize natural light were key for her. This laundry room exudes natural light, I think the design choices were absolutely perfect here.
Basket Tower of Dreams
There is so much beautiful detail in this laundry room makeover by Wildfire Interiors. The shiplap wall, concrete countertop for the sink, herringbone brick paver floor, the gorgeous shade of green for the cabinets, and of course the butcherblock counters above the washer and dryer that match the shelves above. But our favorite detail has to be the basket tower. An absolute must-have for any laundry room!
Black and White Farmhouse
This modern farmhouse laundry room makeover by Welsh Design Studio is an absolute beauty! The dark cabinets paired with the butcher block and matching floating shelves create a warm and eye-catching contrast. Our favorite part of the transformation is the stunning black and white porcelain tile on the wall.
Timeless Charm
This stunning laundry room makeover is by Andrea of Harlow and Thistle. Every little detail from the flooring to the cabinet hardware elevates the space to such a timeless look. But our favorite change is the grout wash (or “grout bath” as she refers to it) to her stone wall which helps create visual interest and weight in the space.
Open Shelving
This warm and inviting laundry room was created by Becki Owens. With ceiling-high cabinetry, a large farmhouse sink, and a beautiful tile floor this room will make you want to do laundry. Although there are so many little details that bring this room together, our favorite addition is the open shelving to match the butcher block countertops.
Maximize Space
Beautifully made over by Kourtni of House on Longwood Lane. By stacking her original cabinetry and building a floating shelf with a built-in dowel she was able to elongate the room and truly maximize her space. Our favorite addition is the sliding slat barn door that she provides a DIY tutorial to as well!
Bread Box
A stunning waterfall butcherblock countertop by Kate of We The Dreamers. Kate goes into great detail on how to plan, measure, cut and assemble so you can take on this DIY project with confidence as well. The addition of the “bread box” (as she refers to it) to cover all cords and piping is a clever touch.
Raised Cabinets
From dark and crowded feeling to bright, airy, and fully functional, this beautiful laundry room makeover comes from Studio McGee. We love the way they utilize the most storage by raising the cabinetry to the ceilings and wrapping them around the corner. Plus the color change of the flooring and the cabinets from dark green to white makes this small laundry room appear way more spacious and inviting.
Pink Shiplap
We are absolutely smitten with this laundry room by Vanessa Francis. The concrete farmhouse sink with a gold faucet is absolutely gorgeous (yes, we agree with you, Vanessa) and a perfect size to give her pup a bath. The black peony round backsplash and black floor tile add a dramatic effect that pairs perfectly with our favorite part — the pink shiplap walls!
Plywood Waterfall
This gorgeous waterfall countertop was created by Mandi of Vintage Revivals. Although this is plywood and not butcherblock, it gives you the same beautiful look which is why we’ve added it to our list today. Also, with a price tag of only $90, this is not only an easy DIY project but an incredibly affordable way to makeover your laundry room.
